Last year it was announced that Grieg Kapital will invest an additional 240 MNOK into investment in new technology and business areas in Norwegian growth companies. A new investment mandate and governance changes have now been made to set the company and its investments up for future success
Grieg Kapital will be the unifying investment company for Grieg Groups’ company and shareholders. The goal is to become a leading investment company in Norway within company scaling in our business sector.
The Board of Directors of Grieg Maturitas, the owning company of the group, will serve as the board of Grieg Kapital. Group Chief Investment Officer Paal Espen Johnsen is named as CEO of Grieg Kapital. He will work closely with Chief Operating Officer Thomas T. Grieg and the rest of the team in place.
-Grieg Kapital will continue to invest in growth companies and opportunities where the groups knowhow and experience is an asset. Further we look for companies that can benefit from cooperation with our group companies, as well as business ideas that create new and innovative solutions to challenges commonly seen in the group’s businesses, Johnsen says.
Speaking on the ownership strategy going forward, Thomas T. Grieg adds
–We invest in leading technology companies in our industries and will provide the portfolio companies we invest in long-term ownership with predictability and safety for the growth journey they will embark on. Grieg Kapital always works actively together with the management and the board of the companies to build fast-scaling companies. Partnerships with other professional investment companies are also key in our investment strategy.
An investment committee has also been formed to approve new investments within the new mandate. The committee will be lead by Paal Espen Johnsen along with members Rolv Erik Spilling, Iselin Tenfjord, Anders Tuv and Maria Tallaksen
The business areas going forward will continue to focus on three main categories: Aquaculture, Ocean Technology and B2B Software.
