We are proud to announce that Grieg Star’s eminent COO Ship Management, Eli Vassenden, today has been awarded the WISTA Leadership Award 2015.
– I have to admit, I am still in a bit of a shock. I don’t know what to say.
Eli seldom is tongue-tied. But the phone call from WISTA stopped her in her tracks.
– Have you seen who the former award winners are? I just cannot fathom that I should be there – in that group. I have been told that the work I do is OK. But it is a very good feeling to be seen from outside the company. That really excites me!
WISTA stands for Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association, and in Norway the Leadership Award has been given each year since 2007. Among the former winners in Norway are Rikke Lind, Irene Basili, Birgit Liodden and Elisabeth Grieg.
The winner from last year, Linn Cecilie Moholt presented the award to Eli during WISTA’s conference during Nor Shipping today.
– Eli has lived up to WISTA’s core values and contributed to the development of the maritime industry through her many years working in a traditionally male dominated role of COO. She is professional, open-minded and dedicated, and an important role model for younger women in the industry, President of WISTA Norway, Bjørg Ekornrud says.
Grieg Star CEO Camilla Grieg beams when talking about Eli and the award:
– This is a great honour, and no one deserves it more than Eli. We are incredibly proud to have her as an important part of our team, Camilla says.
